Dragon Nest Asia Cup – Chinajoy 2012 Day 1 & 2
Just want to say a big thank you to Cherry Credits for sponsoring my trip to Shanghai, China for the Dragon Nest Asia Cup 2012 at Chinajoy.
I hope I managed to bring back the best coverage possible with the tools that I have.
Also a big thank you for fans and supports of both TEG & Dragon Nest for waiting for this coverage
The coverage will be released in this manner:
- Day 1 & 2 ( Highlights will be China having their own Top 4 Elimination to decide who represents China)
- Day 3 (SG vs China and MY vs Korea, China vs Korea)
- Day 4 (SG vs MY, MY vs Korea)
- Day 5 (Korea vs China)
Note that the format of the Asia Cup was double elimination.
There were 2 modes of PVP that they had to compete in:
- 5v5 King of Fighter Style Map (This is basically Ladder mode with Compensation ON and players from respective teams engage in 1v1 fights, winner stays to fight next opponent while the losing team will send the next until 1 team kills all 5 players from opposing team)
- 3v3 Compensation ON (Lost Temple or West Village)
There were also class restrictions whereby there’s no stacking of a specific basic class. Basically this means that every team will have a warrior, archer, cleric, academic and sorceress.
Here are the lineups for the respective 4 nations:
China: Mercenary, Tempest, Inquisitor, Engineer, Elestra
Korea: Mercenary, Tempest, Guardian, Alchemist, Elestra
Malaysia: Moonlord, Tempest, Inquisitor, Alchemist, Elestra
Singapore: Gladiator, Tempest, Guardian, Alchemist, Elestra
Without further ado, let’s get to day 1!
Our flight was at 0805AM 25 July 2012, I arrived at the airport at around 0600AM
Searched for our flight departure information >_<
After which we flew
After arriving at Shanghai, the Singapore Team dawned on their Team T-shirt~!
P.S Malaysian Team didn’t fly with us, they flew to Shanghai themselves and reached around 6 hours earlier, so I didn’t get to take any photos of them prior to meeting them ):
When we moved out of the arrival area, we were greeted by our China counterparts who immediately got the Singaporean Team for some quick video footage recording.
After which we boarded the bus and headed to our hotel~!
It was around 4PM when we arrived at the hotel and checked in!
We stayed at Wyndham Grand Plaza Royale Oriental Shanghai Hotel~! (It’s a 5-star Hotel)
Here’s some pictures of the room, I shared a room with CityFTW.
On our first day, there wasn’t any dragon nest activities lined up.
We had dinner at a International Buffet on the first floor of the hotel.
Addison Kang came as well~!
After dinner, we had a bus ride to visit one of the river sides in Shanghai~!
This is pretty much the end of day 1~!
Day 2 is pretty exciting.
Though there are no matches between any of the 4 nations yet, but China will determine who gets the honour to represent China against Korea, Malaysia and Singapore in the Dragon Nest Asia Cup.
When we first enter the Chinajoy Convention, it was madness.
The weather was extremely humid and hot, at least 32-34 degrees~!
There was just huge crowds of people who were already queuing to in when we arrived.
And Chinajoy will definitely not be without the show girls.
Just getting in, you will see plenty of them >_< (This is just the tip of the iceberg @_@)
Here’s the stage where the battles are fought~!
I’ll not show all the videos for the matches being played.
But I’ll show the highlights.
First highlight will be Timeless from the China Team which represented China in the end who takes out 3 players!
The second highlight will be a Gearmaster (Engineer) from 777’s Team who takes out 2, pretty epic because of how he managed to stay composed even though he has only 10-15% hp left against his second opponent~!
P.S The guy who is seemingly “botak” is the person playing the engineer in the video.
The last highlight will be 777 who needed to bear the burden to win 2 players in order for his team to represent China, did well against the opponents Inquisitor, but failed to find his target against the representing team’s Mercenary known is 鱼儿.
Congratulations to the team who managed to come up tops in the China Top 4 Elimination Round~! (They also went on to win the Asia Cup later on
Let’s end off with something for our eyes to feast on (I Was refering to the extremely cute berlin~!)
After that, we went back to our hotel for dinner, look at Belfry and CityFTW fired up faces below!
While the Singapore, Malaysia & Korea team watched the Top 4 china teams battle it out, we also felt that our hands were itchy as well >_<
We were brought to a internet cafe for some practice session.
The Singapore Team even had a chance to spar with the Koreans~!
The Malaysian Team was focused on strategies instead.
Both the Singapore and Malaysia Team had their very own private discussions up late until around 1.30AM as they will be playing tomorrow.
