Sea Dragon Nest – Stage 7 Phase 3 onwards Tutorial by Aspenach from EternitY (Springwood)
Seeing that I’ll not kill the dragon myself anytime soon ):
due to members having their very own real life commitments, but we will definitely try to kill it before 50 cap
I’ll like to share a video commentary done by Aspenach from EternitY (Springwood) (really coincidence on their guild name with my previous guild).
It is extremely well done with NO DEATHs when they killed the dragon.
Also from the video itself, you can see that their gears are not fantastic (definitely not in the +12-14 range, probably +10 or lower).
I hope this video serve as an inspiration to all who is at Stage 7 Phase 3 and is having difficulty
I’ll like to however, enhance his video commentary guide by pointing out a few things that one might miss up when just watching the video.
I’ll do that by listing the key moments which you need to look out for at the respective HP Bar of the Dragon once he has landed.
Do watch the video first because it will definitely aid in your understanding.
Of course Aspenach would have mentioned it in his video guide, but I’ll just point it out again.
- 15+ to 14.25x HP – Free DPS!
- 14.25x HP - First Rotating Breath (watch out for Dragon Dive, Ice Claw), Timer to countdown 90s from here onwards until 9.25x HP Rotating Breath.
- 13x HP – Black Hole/Ice Cage (For Paladin, always stand at the edge of the map to reduce chance of blackhole being cast. Hound/Tentacles Nest Skill Heraldry both can be used to act as a tank for Ice Cage. Divine Avatar also can be used to avoid Ice Cage)
- 9.25x HP – Rotating Breathe (Rotating Breathe will now be HP triggered, Next one will be at 7.25x HP)
Other important notes before 9.25xHP will be that the safe locations which are used to avoid dragon dive, can also be used to avoid Ice Claw.
From 9.25x HP you can see from the video that they split into 2 separate groups on the map.
This is because of a new mechanic called “Purple Bomb”
Basically now when the Dragon flies into the air, it can cast purple bomb instead of just the dragon dive.
To recognize if it is purple bomb, the dragon will have an animation where it seems like it is “Hugging someone” or “opening up his arms”.
Recognizing this is important because once you hit 7.25x HP, the boss will choose between “black eyes” and “purple bomb” to cast.
To avoid purple bombs, you just need to keep moving and avoid running into your team mates
At 7.25x HP, it will cast another Rotating Breath. Mercenary standby once the dragon is close to that HP region.
One thing I note about their party is that the Paladin will sound off that he’s ready to trigger the breath before they went on to DPS it to that specific HP status.
This really shows that they have team work and communication!
After this rotating breath, you should only dps at the “tip of the tail” because of the possibility of getting hit by side breath.
From 7.25xHP onwards after this rotating breath, the dragon can now also cast “Black-eyes” or Ice Flakes when it flies into the air.
Because of this, you will need to stack up first and if it is purple bomb instead of “Black-eyes”, you will need to react ASAP and start running.
Other tips from Aspenach when going back to DPS at the tail is to run around the edge/circumference of the map to avoid getting hit by side breath
My own advice for this phase is to try to get the boss to 5.25x HP Bar ASAP to trigger the last rotating breath
This way you lessen the risk of dying due to the feint between black eyes or purple bombs.
Once you trigger the last rotating breath, the boss will then repeatedly cast it’s 3 combo which is also known as the pig-head mode.
3 combos – Ice Flakes “Black Eyes”, Frontal Breath, and Dragon Dive.
Paladins still need to watch out for Ice Cage though.
So basically when the dragon flies, stack up in your respective positions.
There will be moments where the dragon will hover in the air for awhile, it is trying to fake you to thinking it is purple bomb.
But know that from the time the last rotating breath is triggered at 5.25x HP, there will be no more purple bomb and it will always be ice flake
So just stay calm and awesome and wait for the 3 combos to be cast.
With that just rinse and repeat and the dragon should be down
I hope to do my own video of killing the dragon, hopefully before 50 cap release XD
Hope this guide helped and once again many many thanks to Aspenach from EternitY (Springwood) for sharing this awesome guide!
Cheers,
AikawaKazu
