This guide will help you map out how you will want to allocate your Skill Points (SP) while leveling your Academic into a Alchemist.

There will basically be 4 categories of skill build namely Level 24/32/35 and 40.

Watch the video version of this guide to know why I’ve or have not added certain skills.

Reason for having a Lvl35 skill build is because at lvl35, the alchemist needs to learn an important skill, which is either elemental or chemical bubble charging. This skill is of paramount importance to get when you hit 35 as it will help you generate bubble buff counters more efficiently.

We will first start off with a generic Lvl24 skill build for alchemist which is what you can go for regardless if you’re going for the poison side of the skill tree or the fire/ice side of the skill tree

Lvl24 Generic Skill Build

Academic Skill Tree

Quick shot Lvl5

Napalm Grenade Lvl 3 to get Stun Grenade Lvl1

Wax Lvl 2

Bubble bubble Lvl1

Aerial Evasion, Dodge, HP/MP Mastery as high as you can get.

Basically get all the pre-requisites for skills on your Alchemist Tree.

Note: NO Alfredo

Alfredo is really very useless for alchemist, in higher level dungeons, it is actually troublesome as it draws threat from monsters, which might cause them to spread out making it harder to clear monsters with just 1 AOE Skills.

Alchemist Skill Tree

Magma Punch Lvl4

Slime Lvl 1

Injection Lvl 3 – Pre-requisite to get Disease

Disease Lvl 2

Cocktail Lvl 1

Icing Punch Lvl 1

Icing Mass Lvl 1

Ice Palm Lvl 1

Poison Charging Lvl1

You only start to get skills like magma wall or mixed infection at lvl 27 and 28 respectively, which is why this is a generic build that can work for both builds since you’re still too low lvl to earn any other skills specific to the side you want to focus on.

——————————————————————————————————————–

I’ll now move on to Lvl32 skill builds giving both fire/ice and dark/poison focused skill build examples.

I’ll start with the fire/ice builds

Lvl32 Fire/Ice Skill Build

This is simple, get all the pre-requisites for both Magma Wave and Poison Break, I left Mixed Infection out since I’m focusing on the fire/ice side of the skill tree.

Ice Palm is lvl 4 because you will need level 5 as a pre-requisite to unlock Lvl35 Elemental Bubble Charging Passive skill.

Lvl32 Dark/Poison Skill Build

Similarly, use skill points on skills that unlock Lvl1 Poison Break and Magma Wave but for the Dark/Poison Focused build, get Mixed Infection up to Level2 for pre-requisite later on to unlock the Lvl35 Chemical Bubble Charging Passive Skill (You will need lvl3 Mixed Infection so getting it to 2 first is fine)

——————————————————————————————————————–

I’ll now move on to Lvl35 skill builds.

As mentioned earlier it is important for you to know how to use your SP at this stage as you might over spend your SP and not be able to get the respective bubble charging passive skill that gives you 100% more bubble counters earned while using the relevant skills.

Once again there will be a fire/ice as well as dark/poison skill build.

Lvl35 fire/ice Skill build

Basically get pre-requisites to Elemental Bubble Charging Passive Skill.

Follow this skill build so that you will 100% be able to get the important bubble charging passive skill while leveling to 40 from here.

Note: Hypnosis is optional, It’s a more PvP Orientated skill which works like Crisis Howl for mercenaries, but you can also use it actively through the Injection skill.

Lvl35 dark/poison Skill Build

Similar to above, get only the pre-requisites required to get Chemical Bubble Charging Passive Skill.

——————————————————————————————————————–Let’s now move on to Lvl40 Skill builds.

There are various variations depending on what’s your role and playstyle.

This will be the skill build that I’ll go for.

Lvl40 Skill Builds (Fire/Ice)

Highlights

Wax Lvl 7, extra speed boost from the increase in level, why not?

I got Poison Break to level 3. This is possible because I did not learn Mixed Infection. The damage increase per level is definitely decent which is why I’ve decided to increase it to level 3.

Magma Wave is also at level 3 with similar reasons like Poison Break.

I got the Cocktail skill to Lvl6 which is the maximum at Lvl40 cap. This buff gives 20% more STR/AGI/INT to your party members and if you’re bringing your Alchemist to Sea Dragon Nest, definitely will need to do so. Get a Skill Ring for it to make it to 22% :D

Other perks like cooldown reduction for skills which is 9% at Lvl6 is definitely also useful, however this cannot replace Force User’s Beyond time. It also increases healing taken by party members, definitely a very very useful party buff which lasts for 1.5 mins and can always be re-cast before it runs out.

Let me know if Mixed Infection is really a must learn skill if I happen to be wrong, which is why I’ve provided a variation to the above build, which still keeps Cocktail at Level 6 but Poison Break and Magma Wave will only be Lvl1 and 2 respectively
Updates: Decided to go for the skill build below, added Mixed Infection

MsSumi Lvl40 Fire/Ice Hybrid with Mixed Infection (Im using this one now)

——————————————————————————————————————–Let’s move on to dark/poison build.

Lvl40 Dark/Poison Build

Basically, similar to the fire/ice skill build but because Mixed Infection takes up more SP, you will not be able to increase Magma Wave beyond lvl 1.

Cocktail is also at Level6 for this one.

I hope this guide is useful for you people and let me know if you have any questions.

Good good :) good thing i still got that lv 15 reset scroll with me hehehe

  2. Elendrylle says:

Very well done with the analysis…

There are only two things that I have quite different from the dark/poison build:

    1. In the Academic Skill Tree, I have the Force Out skill.

    2. I will still stick with the Sacrifice skill despite it being currently bugged and most people say it’s useless to get that skill.

Everything seems similar… And thanks for this guide.

  3. onarampage says:

I’ll go with the dark poison build. future Physician!

  4. purrrplez says:

Hi, referring to your comment on bring alchemist to SDN raid, is it really necessary? I’ve been partied with alchemists before and their skills, although it does not lag me out, blocks the whole vision of the party. We couldn’t see what we were doing and were just blindly spamming skills and were unable to dodge mob attacks.

Isn’t it important in SDN to dodge attacks?

    • purrrplez says:

      bringing*

    • AikawaKazu says:

not necessary for alchemist for sdn, i was refering to getting cocktail as it is a very useful buff for your party should they bring you to SDN. i mentioned that the buffs still can’t replace the stronghold of support class skills like FU’s beyond time or priest’s buffs

  5. GenzuiJuro says:

Nice one Aikawa! Even though Sacrifice is bugged, should I still get it if I’m going for physician? ANd at lvl 40 skill build, we just don’t use the extra SP for Academic? I spent it on bubble bubble because of shield. Any advice for Physicians?

  6. Verxial says:

Kazu, do you often get Bubble bug/glitch: wherein you don’t gain any Bubble everytime you use an Alchemist skill? also after getting the Elemental Bubble Charging after using fire/ice skill to instantly get 2 bubbles, it will get stuck to the previous no. of bubbles if you use dark skill next.

    • AikawaKazu says:

ya if that happens trying using skills that exhaust bubble skill counters like magma wave or poison break, then try using the normal bubble earning skills again, shld work

  7. Taccobell says:

  17. Look MB2 devs can’t do anything with hacks. The won’t update SAC and cheats will continue to ruin gameplay with new hacks. Release hack if you want to see this mod dead

  18. HWAcro says:

I have a question about the fire/ice w/ mixed infection. Is a lvl 1 poison break still powerful/decent enough although it doesn’t have the better increment?

  19. ahNIC says:

It is the same if we choose dark/poison or fire/ice in lvl 24/32 and lvl 40 use your hybrid type that you are using now.

  20. Avrai says:

is eureka worth spending sp? bcs u got that and i dunno what it gives, no sense for me :?
