As always watch the video guide first!
There was a boss that I’ve missed out in the video, read the written guide to find out more!
I’ll start off by giving you the ideal sequence in which you should tackle the nest for both normal and hell which is the most effective, also letting you know why.

HELL
Safe Option (Time Consuming) – Start from the left door and go anti-clockwise
1.Twin Baby Ghost

——————————————————-
There’s no need to kill all the stage bosses before proceeding to the lightning ogre.
HOWEVER, killing all stage bosses before lightning ogre will unlock the royal chest room, it’s only useful for hell mode.
Royal chest will give class specific jewels and crystal codes, it will be tagged with your each of your parties members name so there’s no need to worry about loots getting ninja-ed
I’ll now move on to speak about each respective stage boss for Apocalypse Nest. For the apocalypse fight itself, visit dragonnestblog.com for a very good guide.
Baby Ghosts
It is a very straight forward fight. There’s a time counter which will start once the boss spawns. Failing to kill the boss within the time will cause damage to be inflicted onto party members. I’ve never met this situation even when I tried to solo with only 3.2kpatk as a SM when I was trying out the normal mode for fun.
The only skill you need to watch out for is where it fires out RED EYE BALLS which tracks your movement, keep moving to avoid getting hit because you will be silenced for 10 seconds. Also it deals a decent amount of damage around 5% of your HP usually.
This is the only skill you need to watch out for which the baby ghost casts pretty quickly, usually during the start after you began damaging it. It will arch back and charge for second before summoning the them so that will be an animation you can look out for.
Red Death Scythe
This boss is very simple, I actually prefer to call it the lamp post or post box boss due to the mechanics of the fight.
You will spawn into a room after clicking on the lamp-post/postbox.
Upon reaching the main room with all your party members, you will see a similar looking lamp post. Wait for everyone to enter the room which will trigger the boss to spawn before pressing the lamp post.
The main boss mechanic of the fight is this:
1. pressing the lamp post will spawn a cone of light
2. boss needs to be baited to the cone of light, which will stun him
3. only when the boss is stun by the light can you actually deal damage to him for a period of time
4. once the cone of light disappear ( the lamp post will stop spinning when that happens), press the lamp post again to spawn another cone of light
The sequence for the cone of light spawning is at the top right corner of the room, and then it moves in a clockwise fashion. This is for NORMAL MODE only.
For hell mode, the spawning of the light is random and you need to be alert and get your party to move behind the cone of light spawn area ASAP to stun the boss.
Should also be an easy boss fight, avoid getting hit by the debuffs and AOEs that the Boss summon on the ground periodically.
Illusion Shadowlings
This boss is probably one of the easiest in Apocalypse Nest.
Once clicking on a statue with a lady praying, it will spawn you into another area with many statues.
Rule of thumb is this: The first statue that breaks to show the Shadowling will be the real one.
After the first statue breaks, the others will break within 2-3 seconds and you will be facing around 5 shadowlings, the fake ones do not do as much damage as the real one but it will be good to kill the real one ASAP
For NORMAL MODE the statue that always breaks first is the one in the centre.
For HELL MODE the statue that breaks is random and you need to be alert once again. I recommend marking of the statue with a debuff skill, for myself I use provoking slam which inflicts a blue-like shield-breaking animation on the shadowling to help my party members identify the real shadowling.
Upon killing the real shadowling the rest of the fake ones will despawn.
Giant Wisp
This boss is an annoying boss because it has 2 elemental type.
One is dark and the other is light.
Also it has the ability to teleport around the room in 2 ways.
1. Directly opposite of his location
This means that he will teleport very soon again
2. At Adjacent location of his initial location
This means that he will stay for awhile.
More often than not you should be able to burn him down before he teleports but sometimes you get runs where he teleports immediately once you have reached his initial spawn location.
Feel free to use some hard hitting skills here as you want to defeat the boss ASAP. It can dish out quite an amount of damage.
For the Dark elemental type, it can fire out mini-shadow balls that deals 1-3k dmg per hit in hell mode which is actually quite a fair bit of damage. Avoid it as it will do it in a circular fashion, either run through to the other side or run along with the barrage
For the light elemental type, it can cast aoe root to the floor as well as an AOE Blast which knocks you back. Both deal decent amount of damage and you do not want to take too long to kill this boss because failing to kill it within a timer will result in the boss casting a 1-hit KO AOE, but that has never happened for my nest party.
Iron Ogre/ Fiery Ogre
This boss fight is irritating and it is a time sink.
The boss will rampage through a wall, and at this instance a door on your right will open.
There will be cobwebs in your way which you need to destroy and then you will find yourself facing a wall.
There’s 2 ways you can go about it.
Conventional Way
Lure the ogre to the crevice of the wall and without getting yourself killed, hope that the ogre actually uses the horn thrust skill that actually breaks the wall.
Get someone who either has a defensive skill like block/parryingstance to do this job. This is however not that simple as the thread/aggro mechanics of the boss is weird and even with provoke, the paladin might not get the attention of the ogre.
If you’re using the conventional way to break the wall, other members need to be alert, if you’re the one with the attention of the ogre, proceed to the crevice of the wall and pull the ogre there, and dodge well.
Unconventional Way
Upon the door opening, rush to the crevice, and keep to the left side. Use all skills with multiple hits and start smashing the crevice. Yes it is possible to break the wall down with just attacking it. From my experience, it is not the damage that counts but the number of times the wall is getting beaten. Once it has reached a certain hit counter, the wall will break. No proof with regards to the wall being attached with a hit counter but usually spamming skills that stays in the ground for periods of time like poison, cyclone slash helps to break the wall really fast.
Upon breaking the crevice of the wall you will find a horn-shaped looking crystal, destroy the crystal as well as the monsters that spawn and you will be able to proceed to the next room.
There will be three rooms to clear
First room – Normal Brown Ghouls
Second Room – Dark Summoner and more ghouls + skeletons
Third Room – Spider Boss from DTMI x 2 as well as dark summoners
The one most people will have trouble with will be the 3rd room.
Use ultimates at this junction to take out the Spider Boss ASAP because having them jumping around and crashing can actually even wipe your party if you’re unlucky.
Disable the dark summoners with cyclone slash or time stop, they are irritants that cast aoe slow on you and your team mates which slows both your movement and attack speed.
Remember to break the horn-shaped crystal and the ogre itself is not difficult at all, same as what the ogres can do in Cerberus nest.
NOTE: HELL MODE FIERY OGRE can shoot out fire balls from his mouth which is always a problem when doing the conventional method of clearing the wall due to the erratic AI for the ogre
Captain Darlant
This boss is straight forward, go in spam all your highest damaging skill, kill him ASAP done.
Avoid getting hit by his 3-hit strike skill which involves him swinging his hook and axe widely in a circular fashion.
Feel free to use your ultimate skills here, especially if your party’s gear isn’t good, make sure everyone have ultimate skills off cooldown.
Other mechanics includes the destroying of the summoning “structures” but meh, no point, he usually dies too fast.
Bother to destroy the structures if you’re doing him solo but most solo players for apocalypse nest is usually extremely geared so it shouldn’t pose as a problem as well
Skeleton Minotaur
This boss can be the easiest boss or the hardest boss depending on your party’s intelligence level.
Basically the boss will spawn and you can have a chance to see 2 types of aura,
RED or BLUE
If the aura is red, kill the OPPOSITE colour ghoul, meaning BLUE.
If the aura is blue, kill the red colour ghoul
Once you have cleared all spawns of the opposite colour ghoul, the boss will get stunned and you will be able to damage him.
Only in this instance can the boss actually take damage.
Note that killing the wrong colour ghoul will cause the spawning of another 2 wrong colour ghoul. Now imagine if you have a party with people who don’t understand this mechanic.
Moreover, with the wrong colour ghoul getting killed while the boss is stunned, there’s a chance for him to be un-stunned immediately should that happen.
So here’s the strategy.
For both Hell/normal mode, the boss doesn’t need all 4 party members to DPS to kill it, around 2-3 will be sufficient.
Get 1 member to pull the wrong ghoul by hitting it with normal attack like side kick or simply normal attack.
Pull the wrong ghoul away from the boss, the other 3 members will kill the correct ghoul and smash all their skills on the boss.
If you have enough DPS, 1 round will be enough.
However, you will usually need at least 2 stuns to kill the boss.
For each time the boss is un-stunned, 2 more opposite colour ghouls will spawn and it will keep adding up.
So the first round has only 1 opposite colour ghoul
2nd round will have 2, and so on and so forth.
So try to kill the skeleton minotaur before the 3rd round.
